Today in the palm of our hands we can hold a smart phone which has the
similar computing power of machines that required large computer rooms
back in the 1960s. The very fact that we are able to own such tiny yet
powerful devices is also amazing. Devices only huge governments could
afford less than four decades ago. It is Moore’s Law—the prediction that
the number of components on a computer chip will double approximately
every two years—that explains this exponential change in the computing
