Most of the network related persons out there are familiar with the term ‘Proxy’ as it is commonly used in networking environment. In its simplest term Proxy is a tool which act like a mediator between client and server to control requests. Proxy’s main use might be considered for hiding the actual identity of machine from the rest of the world but this proxy means a lot for other uses too like sharing internet connection with clients and controlling data transfer as well. The most common and important synonym of Proxy is Web Proxy which is used to speed up the use of web resources and to be able to enter and visit any prohibits or filtered site, to bypass parental control or any other kind of security.
The most famous types of proxies are forward Proxies, Open Proxies and Reverse Proxies which help you out in filtering and caching (caching web pages from the server) of web services, to scan transmitted information for malware before delivery. Web proxies are used in distributed systems to handle their complexity and making their services simple.
