The <div> tag allows you to create an empty, ambiguous segment that you can reference by the name you give it as an ID attribute. It works the same as the structural elements that we’ve just covered – in that you can apply unique styles and use it as a container for various elements – but it has no official title within the HTML5 semantic hierarchy. In other words, it works, but it’s not royalty.
